Take a good selfie

Updated July 23, 2026

Your selfie does one thing only: it spots your face among the event photos. It isn't posted, shared, or kept for long.

What works well

  • Your face straight on, fully inside the frame.
  • Decent light, ideally in front of you.
  • Your eyes visible.

What gets in the way

  • A side or sharp three-quarter angle.
  • Backlight, or a very dark room.
  • Sunglasses, a mask, or a hand in front of your face.
  • A group photo: take the selfie of just yourself.
  • A blurry photo, or one taken from far away.

Tip: if you wore glasses or a hat at the event, take your selfie in the same look. It'll match more reliably.
